Stay Environmentally Friendly!

Since our name has the word forest in it, we felt it was necessary to promote the environment.  In everything we do, we can help save the environment.  We will post tips on how to stay environmentally friendly without causing a burden on your lifestyle.  Our first post that promotes saving the environment would be the highlight of the public pool at Holding Park.  If you are looking to build a house and plan on building a pool or stay at a hotel that has a pool you may want to reconsider!  Pools are extremely bad for the environment. There is an ehow.com article on how pools are environmentally unfriendly. Here is another article worth taking a look at: PraticalEnvironmentalist.com.  We like taking a dip in the pool just as much as you do, but we feel its important to think about the environment first!  So what do we do?!?! Well Holding Park has a public pool, which is a great way to save cost on building your own pool, plus there is one pool for the public and not one per household.  This in itself helps save the environment.  Another great alternative is going to the lake!  Ahh you can remember the days when people used to enjoy gathering at the lake.  A day full of great food, activities on land and of course swimming! Visit the Falls Lake page for more details.  If you're in the mood for being adventurous visit Paddle Creek for canoeing and kayaking! We bet you can't kayak in a swimming pool!

Take the Bus instead!

Just because gas prices are the highest that we've ever seen in the history of the United States, it doesn't mean we have to limit our travel! In Wake Forest we have a great bus route. Fare ranges from two to three dollars depending on the time of day.  This is pennies if you compare it to the cost of driving your own vehicle!  Something to consider, the Wake Forest Bus Service also offers transporation to and from several areas in Raleigh.  If you're in the mood to go shopping, the bus also has a stop at the Triangle Town Center! Eat Environmentally Friendly!

We have to eat to live!  If you didn't know, you can be environmentally friendly while eating your meals!  The best way to do this is to cook yourself!  Use fresh vegetables that are locally grown.  We found a great website that gives you 6 ways you can find Eco-Friendly Restaurants.  As we grow we will be researching the restaurants in town and rating them on their Eco-Friendliness! Stay tuned!

Live Green!

As General Contractor's become savvy in building eco-friendly buildings our homes are becoming more environmentally friendly.  There are several homes in Wake Forest that have received LEED certification.  Matter of fact, our town has taken the biggest step in becoming a role model when it comes to being Eco-Friendly.  Our very own Wake Forest Town Hall has received LEED certification for their building.  LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.  More information on LEED can be found at wikipedia.com.  We will research housing developments that have taken environmental factors into consideration and highlight those in the Live in WF page.

Stay at a Green Hotel!

If we eat Eco-Friendly we can also look for places that are environmentally responsible.  Recently hotels have become more aware of the environment and are making strides to help reduce their costs and help the environment.  Of course it always takes two to tango! When we visit hotels we can stay environmentally friendly by reducing our consumption of water and reducing waste.  As we grow we will research hotels in town that promote green initiatives within their respective hotel.
